Landfill Expansion Demonstration August 2
Seneca Lake Guardian to Host Demonstration Against Landfill Expansion at Seneca Falls Community Meeting
Waste Connections aims to expand largest landfill in NY State until 2040
WHAT: Tuesday, August 2 at 11 am, multi-billion dollar Texas corporation Waste Connections is hosting a public meeting to discuss its plans to expand the largest landfill in New York State. If successful, Seneca Meadows, which already stands 30 stories tall, would grow another seven stories and continue to pollute the region until 2040.
Seneca Lake Guardian is leading a demonstration outside of Seneca Falls Community Center to advocate against bringing more garbage to Seneca Falls and protect the environmental and economic health of the community and region. The group will educate attendees about the negative environmental impacts Seneca Meadows has had on the region to date and call for the landfill to permanently close as planned in 2025.
