Dansville ArtWorks to Decentralize
DANSVILLE––Dansville ArtWorks will be transitioning from a central Main Street arts center to offering remote programs starting in 2022. Activities will be in partnership with businesses in the downtown business district and organizations like the Dansville YMCA, among others.
“Arts opportunities in the region have grown since 2014, and hopefully ArtWorks contributed in some way to that growth,” board president Nicole Alioto said. “When the pandemic hit, it forced this volunteer-run nonprofit to rework its delivery model, and we continue to evolve to meet the needs of the community and advance the ArtWorks’ mission. With new businesses and organizations coming to Dansville, it is a great time to get the arts out of one location and into the wider community.”
ArtWorks will continue to advance its mission to cultivate and enhance the visual, literary, and performing arts opportunities in the greater Dansville community through programs such as Fairy Doors of Dansville and Fairy Fest, performances such as Cris Riedel’s storytelling programs, and literary events throughout the year in the community and online. Though networking mixers have been virtual this year, artist networking mixers will be scheduled in person in 2022 at participating locations in the community, as allowed by CDC guidelines. Be sure to follow Dansville ArtWorks on Facebook or Instagram or sign up for email newsletter for all of the program and event updates.
There are still four great exhibits scheduled this year at ArtWorks’ Main Street gallery: Tina Frost in August, Ron Cook in September, and Dick Thomas in October and November. Additionally, there will be a special group exhibit in December, with a call for artists coming in September.
ArtWorks will be selling much of its equipment and art supplies at its gallery at 153 Main Street, Dansville on Friday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will benefit 2022 programs.
