Geocaching – Livingston County, NY
GENESEO, N.Y., July 7, 2021 — Fans of outdoor exploration have a new resource in Livingston County. As part of the County’s continuing bicentennial celebration, a County Geocaching Trail is now available to anyone with a smartphone and a willingness to step off the beaten path.
Geocaching is a recreational activity in which participants use a smartphone and/or other navigational methods to seek containers called “geocaches,” hidden at specific locations. The Bicentennial Geocaching Trail is comprised of geocaches hidden at more than 30 historical sites in every town in Livingston County, said Livingston County Historian Amie Alden.
“Geocaching is a great way to get outside, get some exercise, and learn about the history of our county in the places where it happened,” said Alden.
To get started, download the Geocaching app on a smartphone to solve the puzzles and find caches. All caches are located outdoors. For more information on this event, visit www.livingstoncounty.us/1280/Bicentennial-GeoTrail or call 585-243-7955.
