Canadice (Dangerously) Hollow Road
By T . Touris – In our beautiful region there is a short little road, located in the town of Canadice, called Canadice Hollow Road that runs between Purcell Hill Road and Canadice Lake Road which the even shorter Coykendall Hill Road intersects. It is unlikely our ancestors that gave it that name foresaw the possibility that it would become literally a hollow road. The latest extreme downpour that wreaked havoc on our community empowered the normally placid (wimpy) Canadice Outlet to bore a dangerous hole underneath the woefully under engineered roadway. What is left is a wisp of blacktop and eroded gravel that is not fit for neither dog or human to cross. The spirits that haunt the nearby cemetery won’t even go near it.
So, if you are venturing out towards Canadice Lake, by car, on bike, on foot or hoverboard, use extreme caution if you find yourself approaching a cool looking isthmus of blacktop. At times that wimpy little outlet can carry you away faster than you think.
