The Conscious Crow: Reminding you to grow
It seems there is a continuing divide in our country with more attention focused on separation over politics, religion, race, etc.. What we don’t realize is that we are each a contributing factor. Every time we separate “Us” from “Them,” we are creating a divide. Every time we get defensive about our lifestyle choices versus that of another’s, a line is drawn. When we are disconnecting ourselves from whatever issue seems challenging, or whatever is testing our personal beliefs and habits, we are inherently adding to the division as a whole.
The truth is that we are not as different as we have been led to believe. We are all having this human experience dealing in our own way with the suffering, heartache, defeat, death, birth, and joys of life. We all need food and water to survive, crave affection and acceptance just the same as our neighbor does. It is in our DNA and nature to respond similarly to these needs despite a dramatic range of philosophies on life, appearance, sex and politics.
What we need now is collaboration and harmony amongst this chaos and confusion that is reigning over the nation and world. Regardless of any apparent difference we may display off the bat, we need synergy and to develop a deep respect for one another through the diverse walks of life we encounter everyday. There is already enough alienation, separation, abomination, war and anger to last us a lifetime. What if we focused on the connections bringing us closer together instead of actions driving us further apart? Let us cease this fruitless battle we’ve begun.
Be conscious of the reaction you’re emitting when encountering a moment of frustration when challenged by someone else’s strong beliefs. Pause. Look at them the way you would your brother or sister realizing – in that moment – you are much more alike than may appear at first glance. Be patient and know there is always more than meets the eye. Pay attention to the seeds you sow.
