The Arts Council for Wyoming County Announces 2021 Community Arts Grant Awardees
The Arts Council for Wyoming County is proud to announce our Community Arts Grants awards for the 2021 season. These grants are made possible by awards from the New York State Council on the Arts, which are then dispersed to different organizations and artists within the community to provide arts and cultural experiences for Wyoming County. These awardees are chosen by a panel of community members and the projects are audited and administered (and enjoyed!) by the ACWC Grant Coordinator and other staff members. Our Community Arts programming grant winners this year are:
Eagle Free Library Community Arts Enrichment Program
Silver Lake Institute Cultural Arts Program
Stevens Memorial Community Library Wacky Wednesdays
Perry Farmers’ Market Summer Saturdays
Perry Community Band 2021 Concert Series
Be the Y in Wyoming County – Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and Businessmen’s Association
Wyoming County Bicentennial Singers – Americana Music: Tough Old Bird and Guest
Wyoming County Chamber and Tourism Barn Quilt Display
Wyoming Free Library – Art in Every Season
Wyoming Historical Pioneer Association 149th Annual Pioneer Picnic
Our Arts Education awardee is Margaret Gayford, who will be working with Perry High School students in the Groundlings Up-On-Line.
Also, for this year only, we were able to fund three (instead of one) individual artists. We are so happy about this!
Our Individual Artists this year are Gretchen Cowie: Weaving the Colors of Wyoming County; Louis Melendez: Painting in Community; and Jeffrey Loucks: Abstract Wood Carving.
If you are interested in learning more about applying for a community arts grant, please contact Linda Franke at franke@artswyco.org, or call 237-3517 ext 102.
We at the Arts Council for Wyoming County are thrilled with the line up this year and encourage you to come out and participate in these programs, as well as the programs that were postponed from 2020. Please check our newsletter, website and Facebook page for dates and times. Come out and make art part of your day!
This Decentralization Program is made possible in part with funds from New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature administered in Wyoming County by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
For over forty years, the Arts Council for Wyoming County (ACWC) has created opportunities to bring arts into their rural communities through programming, grants, and art events. Located on Main Street Perry, the ACWC has produced the Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show, one of the largest and highest-rated shows in the region. The ACWC is also Wyoming County’s NYSCA Decentralization Site for Community Arts Grants. For more information on membership or advocacy in the arts, please visit www.artswyco.org.
