Another Side of (Cat) Stevens
- By T.Touris-
We’ve been having a mouse problem in our workshop. Over the objections of our two dogs, we decided to get a shop and office cat. I recently sat down with Cat Stevens to find out how he’s liking his new home.
Here is a transcript of our conversation.
Me: So, how are you liking your new place?
CS: It’s nice, but I have to say, it’s a mess. Good thing you brought me in to clean up the mouse problem.
Me: Yes, I apologize for the mess. Have you managed to scare the mice away yet?
CS: Scare, them away? Why would I scare away my dinner? You think I’m going to just choke down the dry kibble you serve up? No, the first thing I did was announce to the mice that their ride on the Peace Train was about to end.
Me: Well, that’s a little harsh.
CS: Oh baby, it’s a wild world.
Me: I’d rather you just scared them away. I mean we named you Cat Stevens because he’s a man of peace.
CS: I thought you were just being ironic.
Me: I really thought you were a peaceful cat. Can’t you be a little nicer?
Long silence and cold, green-eyed stare.
