Canandaigua Academy Students honored with Awards

CA Senior awarded local scholarship

Sophie Pedzich, Canandaigua Academy senior, was awarded Chapter CQ Scholarship by the Canandaigua Chapter of P.E.O. Sophie is the daughter of Michelle and Keith Pedzich, Canandaigua.   She plans to study Environmental Science, Political Science, and Spanish at Colgate University.  Sophie exemplified outstanding academic and leadership qualities throughout her years at Canandaigua Academy. 

Canandaigua Academy student first recipient of Memorial Award

Colette Kenyon, Canandaigua Academy senior, was awarded the Helen Newman Gardner Memorial Scholarship by the Canandaigua Chapter of P.E.O.  Colette is the daughter of Mike and Christina Kenyon, Canandaigua.  She is enrolled at SUNY Binghamton in Pre-Med, major in Biology, with the plan to become a Doctor. Colette has the added honor to be the first recipient of The Helen Newman Gardner Scholarship.  It was formed in 2019 through P.E.O. International Foundation.  Members of a local family originated the scholarship to honor their mother and grandmother, Helen Newman Gardner, a philanthropic member of the Canandaigua community.   P.E.O. International offers educational opportunities to women, having provided more than $321 million in grants, scholarships, awards, and loans since its inception in 1869.
