Cyber Catechism: Software by Yames
Pop-up Arcade and Screening
On Thursday, November 9, the VSW Salon will present cyber catechism: software by Yames, an interactive pop-up arcade and media installation featuring the short, experimental computer games of independent game developer Yames.
Participants are invited to engage with the media installation/arcade before a short screening, and stay for an arcade afterparty.
The arcade will be open from 6-9pm in the VSW microcinema and include the titles Discover My Body, Water Womb World, and The Moon is the Ocean’s Brain.
At 7:30pm, there will be a screening of work by Yames along with related 16mm film performance with titles from the VSW Film Collection.

About Yames
Yames is an independent computer game developer whose experimental games explore the relationships between biology and belief, and the atavistic nature of horror. Their games are available at https://pantagruel.itch.io/
About the VSW Salon:
The VSW Salon is a bi-monthly engagement in the VSW microcinema featuring film screenings, artist talks, Community Curator events, performances, photo presentations and conversations. The VSW Salon showcases the work of local and national artists, and invites them to present their work in an intimate “microcinema” equipped to show 16mm, Super 8, digital photography and video on state of the art equipment.
The VSW Salon continues a 54 year tradition of showcasing expansive, experimental photography and media art in the Rochester community. We are excited to invite the public to join us in our newly renovated microcinema or to join us on the VSW Twitch site. Suggested ticket prices are $10, but participants may pay what they can.
