DANSVILLE – While some may believe cancer strikes at random, there are many things you can do to help reduce your risk.
UR Medicine’s Center for Community Health & Prevention, Wilmot Cancer Institute, and Noyes Health are combining forces to help keep you healthy with the Promote Health. Prevent Cancer. program.
This free, eight-week program starts at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 and will be held in the conference rooms at Noyes Memorial Hospital.
The program will teach you how small changes can add up to make a big difference in increasing your overall health and wellbeing. The series of classes combine nutrition education and light physical activity with a goal of making you healthier and happier. Weekly topics range from “Healthy Eating Patterns & Portion Sizes” to “Added Sugars & Sweetened Beverages.”
“As I got older I was noticing many changes in my health – how I was sleeping, my energy and some minor aches and joint pains,” said Richard Cotten, a recent program participant. “I decided to take the Promote Health. Prevent Cancer. class to see if it would help. There has been so much improvement since I started doing what I’ve learned, I would encourage anyone looking to make a change to sign up.”
This program is perfect for those interested in making a change in their health, making and maintaining changes in diet, increasing physical activity and reducing cancer-causing exposures like UV rays and smoking.
Since 2017, PHPC has been offered virtually and in person at various community-based locations throughout the Finger Lakes. Join others with similar health goals in the first program of the new year, Tuesday, January 10 at Noyes Health.
