PENN YAN FARMERS’ MARKET OPENING JUNE 11
Yates County’s local-only market, the Yates County Cooperative Farm and Craft Market, better known as the Penn Yan market, expects to open June 11 for its 46th year.
The Market’s been various places in Penn Yan over its long run. In 2022 it will again, as since 2020, be on Jacob Street; which runs between Main Street and the Village parking lot to the east of Main Street. The Village of Penn Yan will be closing Jacob Street for us. Stalls will be set up on Jacob Street starting on the corners of Main Street at the Town Hall and Community Bank; the parking lot at the end of Jacob will be available through the Elm Street entrance.
The Market will as usual be open Saturday mornings; hours will be from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM.Covid restrictions have been removed for this outdoor market; we’ll notify vendors and customers if this changes.
Several new produce and craft vendors expect to join us this year; and of course most of the familiar faces will be returning. The Market expects to have high quality local vegetables, fruit, and herbs, fresh and unaffected by long distance food chain disruptions; seedling fruit / nut trees and shurbs; eggs; maple and honey products; locally grown flowers; baked goods; multiple crafters in cloth, wood, pottery, silk flowers and wreaths; and exhibits from local non-profits.
Everything sold at the Penn Yan Market is grown or made within Yates County or an immediately adjacent county. We’re looking forward to seeing both old and new customers. Come for the excellent quality, come to support and be part of the local community, come to see your friends and neighbors!
The Market’s also still accepting new vendors, space permitting; in particular, right now we encourage applications from bakers, but others are also welcome to apply. All items must be grown or made within Yates County or an immediately adjacent county. To apply as a vendor, or with futher questions, contact the market president, Rivka Davis, 607-243-5234 or organic87@frontiernet.net.
