Finger Lakes Museum to Host February Programs
Revamps Wetland Property for Visitors
Branchport, NY – The Finger Lakes Museum has finalized their program calendar for the 2022 season, with 3 programs kicking off the fun in February. Cross country skiing at Cumming Nature Center takes place on February 5th, snowshoeing at Keuka Lake State Park occurs the following weekend on February 12th and ice fishing on February 19th rounds out the month’s events. With 20 additional programs planned for the year, the family-friendly programs are sure to keep you busy and entertained throughout the various seasons.
In addition to finalizing the details for the program calendar, Museum staff were busy updating the Verdi Burtch Wildlife Sanctuary on Sugar Creek in Branchport. In collaboration with the Izaak Walton League and Yates County, the area has become more visitor friendly, with interpretive signage, native plantings, and improved walking trails. A Purple Martin house will be raised in the spring, welcoming these migratory birds to the wetlands for an up close and personal look. Guests are welcome to visit dawn to dusk to explore the lovely area that helped inspire Verdi Burtch’s bird-watching passion. Program registration and general information is available at the Museum’s website: FingerLakesMuseum.org.
