Heavy Metal Exhibition
Heavy Metal is an exhibition honoring the 95th birthday of the late Robert Ernst Marx. The exhibition includes more than 25 new and recent paintings plus 20 Bronzes—five of which were made in 2020. The name of the exhibition is a nod to Robert’s use of metal leaf in his paintings and the bronze sculpture, both at the center of this exhibition.
Virtual exhibition walkthrough at 5:30 PM, Saturday, December 12 on Facebook Live.

The exhibition opens on December 12, 2020—just two days after what would have been Robert’s 95th birthday—and will run through January 8, 2021. Appointments to see the exhibition are highly encouraged as we will be limited to only 6 visitors at one time. Appointments can be made at www.mainstreetartscs.org.
Exhibition Dates: December 12, 2020–January 8, 2021
The Robert and Francie Marx Art Resource Library
Also opening on December 12 is the Robert and Francie Marx Art Resource Library. This first phase of the library will include temporary shelving in the former second floor gallery space. Throughout the duration of Heavy Metal, we will be accepting donations that will allow us to build better shelving and purchase furniture for the space.
We decided to name the library for Robert and Francie, as they have donated hundreds of books from their collection to help get the library started.
