Missing Lakeville Resident Found Dead

 November 2, 2022 

LAKEVILLE – Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports that a missing Lakeville, NY resident has been located deceased. 

On October 26, 2022 at approximately 7:49 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a body in the Conesus Lake Outlet in Lakeville. Responding Deputies found Daniel G. Wnuk, deceased in the outlet. Wnuk was removed from the outlet and transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. That portion of the investigation is still pending at this time. 

Wnuk had been reported missing on October 24th, 2022 when a family member was unable to make phone contact with him. The Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Wnuk utilizing multiple resources to include K-9’s, drones and personnel on foot searching the area around Wnuk’s home. 

Handling the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) and Command Staff. Assisting with the investigation were members of the Jail Division, the District Attorney’s Office, Livingston County Coroner’s Office and the Monroe County ME’s Office.
